Michael Kost

Michael Kost, 95, of Bon Air, Johnstown, formerly of Mount Union, PA, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.

Born April 23, 1930, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Metro and Mary (Fedorovich) Kost, immigrants from Eastern Europe, giving him Ukrainian and Polish roots.

He was a devoted husband to the late Mary Ann (Hajduk) Kost, formerly Gomulka, with whom he shared many years of love and dedication. And many road trips to Notre Dame.He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary Ann; special stepdaughter Paula Dawson; Aunt Anna (Fedorovich) Killian; Uncles Michael Fedorowich and Nicholas Fedorovich; first cousins Frances (Killian) Zelek, Frank Killian, Kathy (Fedorovich) Westfall, Elaine (Fedorovich) Pfender, Carol (Fedorovich) Parrilla, John Fedorowich, Steve Fedorowich, Charles Fedorowich, and Joy (Fedorowich) Ray; and special cousin-in-law Shirley Killian.

He is survived by first cousins Mary Ann (Fedorovich) Macino and Michael Fedorowich; special cousins Debbie Castiglione, Lynn Brezensky, Lisa Walters, and Sharon Callihan; and special cousin-in-law David Westfall. He will be lovingly remembered by his extended family and friends, both near and far.

Michael proudly served his country in the United States Military. He was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan, never missing a chance to cheer for the Fighting Irish. He attended games as far away as Hawaii. Mike recorded the games to be watched in the off season, belonged to many

Notre Dame fan clubs and had a memorabilia collection to rival any fan. Mike was a member of

SS. Gregory and Barnabas Parish. He was also a proud supporter of the Franklin Borough Fire Department and the Conemaugh Valley School District, reflecting his lifelong commitment to community and service. His life was defined by faith, family, service, and devotion to both heritage and hometown.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 25th, 2025 from 3 to 7 P.M. for a Visitation and on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 a Funeral Service will be held starting at 10 A.M. at Baker Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services (229-231 First Street Johnstown, PA 15909). Committal will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the funeral service with Menoher VFW Post #155 Ritual Team performing Military Honors.
