Obituary

Jones - Shatara, 39, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in her hometown of Johnstown, PA. Born and raised in Johnstown on September 12th, 1986, Shatara brought joy and light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is preceded by her beloved mother, Ericka Jones; grandparents Willie and Betty Jones; and brother Makiah Jones. Their memories remained close to Shatara’s heart throughout her life.

Her family was the center of her world. Shatara cherished her children, Mi’Amor, Qua-Zeem Abdul Ghaffar, Any’leii Jones and grandchildren Adore & Janeii Jream Jones. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be treasured by them. She is survived by father, Damian Jeffers, Sr; Grandparents, Charles & Althea Jeffers; Uncles, Dana Jones, Maurice Jeffers (Debbie); Aunts, Chantay Jeffers & Cynthia McCray; Siblings, DaShauna Hardison, Evan Smith, Damian Jeffers Jr, Ka’Yona Jeffers & Damiona Jeffers; Godchildren, Aiyanna Myers & Saeed McCray; Godparents, Rev. Maurice and Sandra Williams; and a host of cousins and friends.

Shatara attended Johnstown High School and was known for her vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor. Often referred to as the class clown, she had a remarkable ability to bring laughter and happiness wherever she went. Her warm smile and positive spirit left an indelible mark on her classmates and friends.

Shatara was a gifted artist with a deep passion for drawing. She found solace and inspiration in music, using both art forms as creative outlets to express herself. Beyond her artistic talents, she had a hidden love for those she cared about, sharing her love through the dishes she created.

She grew up watching her grandma & mother do hair. This came naturally to her, and she also developed a passion for it. Her daughter, Mi’Amore, is also blessed with this skill & continues the family legacy in Johnstown.

Shatara’s kind heart and remarkable gift for making others feel welcomed and loved were hallmarks of her character. She never met a stranger and had an extraordinary ability to light up any room she entered. Her beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

May Shatara’s memory bring comfort to those who loved her deeply and inspire others to carry forward the warmth, laughter, and kindness she so freely shared with the world. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Baker Funeral Chapel located at 229 - 231 First Street (East Conemaugh).
