O’NEILL – Thomas H., 102, born August 20th, 1923, in Johnstown, PA. A lifelong resident of the borough of Daisytown, went to be with the lord at the Villa Crest after an extended illness on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026. He is preceded in death by parents, Henry and Sophie O’neill; sisters, Mildred Emmel and Mary Louise Grattan; very special niece “stepsister”, Joan (Zimmerman) Heinlein; and many nephews and nieces.
Thomas survived by special nieces; Margaret (Joe) Roddy, of Harrisburg, along with their children Joe (Aurora) and Veronica (Henry and Liam), niece and longtime caregivers Karen (Dave) Heinlein - Korber - Custer and son, David. Along with niece Deborah (Charles) Helsel; niece, Carol and Audrey; other nieces and nephews.
Tom enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He was a part of the 101st infantry 26th division during World War Two that made land onto Normandy Beach and fought various campaigns in Rhineland, northern France and central Europe, receiving multiple purple hearts from injuries on Omaha Beach and in northern France. With many bronze stars and other medals awarded to him during his career. Following the war, he served as a medic and served proudly retiring as Sargent first class, after 25 years of service!
