Obituary

Podolak – Walter “Waldo” “Buddy”, 77, of Woodvale, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA. Born on May 29th, 1949, in Johnstown, son of Walter and Louise (Waligora) Podolak . Preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diana (Katawczik) Podolak; sisters, Charlene (Joesph) Kruszewski, Stephanie (William) Giannone; and many nieces and nephews.

Walter was a 1967 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and a 1971 Graduate of Lock Haven University. He retired from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation after 26 years. He enjoyed going fishing up at Hinkston Run and Playing the lottery, especially his scratch offs.. Walter was an avid Johnstown Trojans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Yankee Fan.

Walter was a lifetime member of the Woodvale Athletic Club, Independence Conemaugh Fire Club, Union Social, and The Dugout.

Friends and Family will be received from 3 - 6 PM on Monday, July 6th, 2026, at the Baker Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where a Parastas will be held at 3 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 606 Maple Avenue Johnstown, PA (Woodvale), with Father Jim Davidson being the officiant. Committal will be at Saint Vladimir Cemetery following mass. Online condolences may be posted to www.bakerfuneralchapel.com
