Michael Shuman

Licensed Funeral Director/Owner

Mike grew up in the West End of Johnstown and is a former member of Christ the Savior Cathedral Greek Orthodox Church. He is a 1997 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. After graduation, he continued his studies at Penn Highlands Community College in Richland. He is a 2013 graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed Pennsylvania Funeral Director having passed both the Pennsylvania State Boards and the National Boards. Mike worked at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home for 16 years. He is now part of the staff at the Harris Funeral Home location on Cherry Lane in Richland where he is one of our certified crematory operators at the Laurel Highlands Crematory at Harris Funeral Home. Mike is very skilled in assisting families during their time of need. He is very compassionate and his vibrant personality and people skills make him a valued part of our staff. Mike resides in Daisytown with his wife, Melissa and their children, Skye and Andrew. He is a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and the West End Lions Club.

Andrew Vogel

Funeral Director/Supervisor

Andrew, born and raised in Daisytown Borough of Johnstown, PA. He graduated from Conemaugh Valley High School in 2018. During high school, he worked in the funeral industry around Johnstown, where he first found his passion for funeral service and helping to serve his community.
Following High school, Andrew attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a degree in Chemical engineering in 2022. While at Pitt-Johnstown, he was a very active member within the campus community. Being a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, was a part of the student government, and being a lead student organizer for the New Student Orientation program, welcoming hundreds of incoming students every year. Andrew decided to follow his passion for funeral service by attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He later graduated in 2023, while receiving multiple awards such as the Ogrodnik Award and the Mu Sigma Alpha Award.
Andrew served his apprenticeship and received his Funeral Directors License for the state of Pennsylvania while in Harrisburg, PA at Bitner Family Funeral Homes. While there he learned how to properly and passionately care for various religious rites including Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Nepalese, Bhutanese, and Buddhist. Becoming very knowledgeable for any family he serves.
Andrew returns to Johnstown, ready to serve his community with great passion and empathy. He currently resides in Daisytown where he is a member of St. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, sits on the Pitt-Johnstown Alumni Association Board, and is the Daisytown liaison for Conemaugh Valley Ambulance Association.
